MARQUIS MANAGEMENT: FOUNDER THOUGHT LEADERSHIP
Founder Strategy, Content Planning, Ghostwriting
The work I did with Kyla began with my proprietary messaging process—a structured discovery framework that helps founders clarify audience, positioning, voice, and strategy.
The resulting framework supports a variety of brand and marketing goals rather than simply filling a content calendar.
Good PR Means Going For Gold—Even When It Takes You Outside Your Usual Playbook.
Blazepod, a long-term client, came to us with an idea for an influencer partnership with Zećira Mušović, a rising soccer superstar.
And despite the fact that I dreamed of being a soccer star myself (once upon a time), my first instinct was, “Eh—women’s soccer?”
When it comes to influencer relationships, visibility is everything. And in the world of sports PR, the men’s side of the industry has always dominated—bigger audiences, bigger contracts, bigger media interest.
But I got over my hesitation pretty quick.
Here’s What I Saw in Zećira Mušović
Grit.
Being a goalkeeper at Chelsea FC isn’t for the faint of heart. Watch any clip of Musovic playing and you know she doesn’t just own the moment—she’s luxuriating in it.
Great Energy.
She’s natural, positive, and authentic. To watch her is to find yourself rooting for her.
Intrinsic Value.
Some athletes manufacture their image. Musovic doesn’t need to.
Fighting Spirit.
Women’s soccer is pulling no punches these days to garner the attention and investment it deserves, and the fan base is growing exponentially. It's women like Musovic who are making that happen.
The Whole Package.
Performance, personality, authenticity—everything that women’s sports are about, and that “go get ’em” attitude that every fitness and wellness brand should be looking out for in a female sports influencer.
The Play (& The Win)
We went for it. I reached out to key industry partners in women’s sports, landing a feature that put Blazepod directly in front of fans, fitness enthusiasts, and athletes—a top-tier athlete training with our product, the way she always did.
That's actually the hat trick we're known for at Marquis—communications strategy for fitness and wellness brands that feels real, natural, and authentic in a world of performative wellness, poorly-matched product pushes, and overhyped gimmicks.
Moral of the story?
When it works, it works. Click here to see for yourself.
And remember, kids—good PR isn’t about playing it safe. It’s about going for gold—even when it takes you outside your usual playbook.
So, if you’re in the wellness space and you’re ready for a PR strategy that actually fits your brand—one that feels natural, builds real connections, and cuts through the noise—let’s talk.
Schedule your consult today— and let's get people talking about your brand for all the right reasons.
Who Killed Big? A Bedtime Story
TLDR: Product placements can look great on paper but fall apart when rubber hits the road.
Take Peloton’s placement last year in And Just Like That, a buzzy Sex and the City reboot that was supposed to feature their bike front and center.
Ridden by one of television’s most iconic characters, it was a PR department’s dream come true, I’m sure…
Until Big clutches his chest in the first episode and drops dead—
While still on the bike, no less.
The internet had a field day, of course.
“Peloton Will Kill You” memes abounded. Stock plunged. And Peloton had to scramble out a damage control campaign to remind people that indoor bikes are good for you.
In last week’s post, I talked about how our choice to partner with Chelsea FC goalkeeper Zecira Musovic landed our client a choice feature in Sky News Sports.
When our client came to us with the idea of an influencer partnership, the opportunity was clear, and so were the requirements—Blazepod is a high-performance training tool, so it went without saying that we needed to pair with a high-performance athlete.
But in PR, the right chemistry between the partner and the product is everything.
The moral of the story is that when it works, it works. But you need the right people in your corner to dodge PR nightmares before they happen. .
